Lila Boots, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on December 22, 1928, in Gagetown, Michigan, Lila was the cherished daughter of Archie and Abbie Ackerman. She was a woman of grace, strength, and kindness, whose life was dedicated to caring for others. Lila's life was marked by her deep love for her family and her commitment to nurturing those around her. She married the love of her life, Phillip Boots, on July 25, 1952. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. While living in France where Phillip was stationed, Lila gave birth to their first daughter, Deb, marking the beginning of a family that would bring her immense joy and pride. Lila was predeceased by her husband, Phillip, and their son, Daniel Boots. She is survived by her devoted children: Deb (Jay) Pennell, Dennis and (Jennifer) Boots, Jeff and (Jo Ellen) Boots, and Laura( Dave) Clarke. Her legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, each of whom carry forward her spirit of love and kindness. Lila's professional life began with a teaching degree, which she utilized with passion and dedication for many years. She also spent a lot of time raising her family on their Cherry and Christmas tree farm, always being a caring and supportive mother. During the summer months, she worked tirelessly in the family concession business, where her warmth and work ethic left an indelible mark on all who knew her. In her leisure time, Lila found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She took great pride in maintaining her home and yard, always ensuring they were immaculate. Her love for reading and, most importantly, spending time with her family, were at the core of her happiness. Lila's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Maples for their compassionate and loving care during her final days. A service to honor Lila's life will be held on September 11, 2026, family viewing at 11:00 AM, public viewing at 12:00, funeral at 1PM, at the Jowett Family Funeral Home, located at 7223 South Street, Benzonia, MI 49616. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Lila's memory to a charity of your choice. Lila Boots will be remembered for her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and her enduring impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
