His service instilled in him a profound sense of duty and a commitment to helping others, qualities he carried throughout his life. Lewis had a zest for life that was evident in his hobbies and interests. He found joy in the simple pleasures, like fishing on a quiet morning or trying his luck at the casinos in Atlantic City. His love for the thrill of the slots and the camaraderie of good food with friends was a testament to his love for life and the people in it. Family was at the heart of Lewis's world.
