LEWIS CHARLES WALKER
May 12, 1952 — February 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lewis Charles Walker, a cherished son, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Lewis departed this world peacefully Feb, 24, 2026 after a brave battle with cancer. He was 73 years old.
Lewis was born on May 12, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late L.C. and Annie Laura Walker. He was the beloved son of Lubbock, where he spent his formative years surrounded by a loving family. Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brothers Robert, Darell, and Albert, Lewis’s life was defined by the bonds he created and the love he shared.
His memory will be cherished by his brother, Donald Walker (Shanna), and his sisters, Barbara McBride, Either Walker of Lubbock, Mary Webb, Tonya Walker of Killeen, Texas, and Mary M. Walker of Belton, Texas. His children by marriage Monique Smith, Victor Williams, Terrance Williams ànd Zackery Williams who also proceeded him in death.
Lewis’s educational journey began at Iles Elementary School, continued through Posey Jr. High and EC Struggs, and culminated at Dunbar High School. A lifelong learner, he believed that “reading is fundamental” and embraced every opportunity to expand his horizons.
His career path led him to work at Plains Coop Oil Mill and Reese Air Force Base, where he demonstrated a tireless work ethic and dedication to his responsibilities. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and wisdom, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met.
Lewis was a man of many talents and interests. He had a profound love for music and found joy in the rhythm and melody that accompanied his days. He was an active pool player, finding camaraderie and competition in the game. In quieter moments, Lewis sought solace in meditation and penned heartfelt poetry, reflecting his deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of life. His way with words was unmatched, and his conversations were often punctuated with wit and wisdom that could fill a room with laughter and thought.
A man of profound insight, Lewis was always eager to share his wisdom and experiences. His ability to communicate with clarity and depth meant that conversations with him were always enlightening. He challenged those around him to think deeply, occasionally prompting his listeners to reach for a dictionary to fully appreciate his vast vocabulary.
Lewis’s life will be celebrated at Griffin Mortuary, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. As we bid farewell, we remember the kindness, strength, and love that defined him—a legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lewis’s name to a cancer research foundation of your choice, in hopes of finding a cure for the disease that took him from us too soon.
Lewis Charles Walker will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories we share and the love we give. May he rest in eternal peace.
