With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Leticia Perez, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Leticia passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A beacon of strength and kindness, she was born on December 24, 1960, in Salinas, California, to Emilio Pena Avila and Rosario Sanchez.
Leticia's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Ester De Anda, her son, Nathan Joel Perez, and her father, Emilio Pena, yet she endured these losses with grace and a steadfast spirit. Her legacy lives on through her devoted husband of 47 years, Joel Nava Perez, whom she married on February 11, 1979. Their love story began as high school sweethearts and grew into a profound partnership that inspired all who knew them.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Chrystal Perez, Jenelle Perez, Hannah Perez, and Camry Perez, who were the light of her life. Leticia was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Isaiah De Anda, Jaden De Anda, Anabella De Anda, Vianna Lara, Nevaeh Perez, Aundrea Moreno, Nathan Blanco, Damian Franco, Leticia Irie Perez, Camry Elaine Franco, Melania Perez, Adrian Franco, and Zaniyah Esquibel, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Pena, and brother, Tony Pena.
An alumna of Alisal High School, class of 1978, Leticia was a dedicated member of her community. She began her career at Campus Bridal Shop, where she worked for five years before joining Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aid for a decade, providing compassionate care to countless patients. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life, as she cared for her father until his passing in 2022.
Leticia had a zest for life, finding joy in simple pleasures like shopping, especially thrifting and exploring antique stores. She had a keen eye for valuable purses, which she collected and lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren, weaving memories through these cherished gifts.
Known for her humor, unwavering positivity, and deep faith, Leticia was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Despite life's challenges, she always found reasons to smile and inspire those around her, often exclaiming, "Bless the Lord all of my soul," even in times of adversity. Her straightforward, loving nature and infectious laughter will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Leticia's life will be held on April 14, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Alta Vista Mortuary, located at 41 E Alisal St, Salinas, CA 93901. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Leticia are invited to join in this tribute to a remarkable woman whose legacy of love and faith will continue to guide us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Leticia's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous and giving spirit. Leticia Perez will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will forever remain in our hearts.
