Leta Watson

We celebrate the life of Leta Watson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully passed away on August 22, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 12, 1953, in the beautiful hills of West Virginia, Leta was the beloved daughter of Mary Watson and David Hoster. Her journey through life was marked by love, compassion, and a spirit that touched everyone she met. Leta was preceded in death by her sisters Odessa, Missy, and Jessie, who she dearly missed. She is survived by her devoted spouse, Efrain Ortiz, who stood by her side through life's joys and challenges. Together, they created a life filled with love and adventure. A loving mother to her children Eva Santana, David Cogdell, Rapheal Santana Jr., and Jimmy Hoster, Leta's nurturing spirit extended to her ten grandchildren, including DAngelo Cogdell, D'Angela Santana, Quaisha Thomas, Jordan Thomas, and Davionna Santana-McCall, and three great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will be carried forward by each of them. In 1979, Leta and her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she and her husband Ralph, shared 15 wonderful years of marriage and raised their seven beautiful children. Leta's love for the open road and the soothing melodies of country music often found her on road trips with her family, singing along to the tunes of Elvis Presley and Leanne. Her passion for fishing and western movies was well known, as was her ability to transform any challenging situation into a moment of hope and laughter. Leta was a beacon of warmth and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her radiant smile could light up a room, and her ability to see the good in everyone inspired all who knew her. Though she has left this physical world, her spirit remains a guiding light for her family and friends. A private funeral service was held to honor Leta's life, with her closest family and friends in attendance. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined them in celebrating Leta's life and wishes to remind all that while she may be gone in body, her spirit lives on in each of us. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made in Leta's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous and caring nature. Her love and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
