It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lester Thorpe, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Lester departed this world on May 3, 2026, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with cancer. His journey began in the United States, where he was born on a crisp winter day, December 11, 1942, to his loving parents, Alice and Tom Thorpe.
Lester was preceded in death by his cherished parents and his dear brother, Junebug Thorpe. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Kimberly, Erica, and Jasmine Glasper, who carry forward his legacy of love and strength. His heart and spirit also live on in his 14 grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Lester's life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and dedication. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his wife, Jacqueline Glasper, who predeceased him. Together, they built a family filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring memories. His six siblings and 14 nieces and nephews will forever cherish the moments they spent together, drawing strength from his steadfast presence.
A man of many talents and passions, Lester served with honor in the military, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. After his service, he embarked on a career that spanned years of hard work on tar and ultimately found solace and expression in painting—a craft that allowed him to capture the beauty and complexity of life on canvas.
Lester's love for football was legendary; he was not only a devoted fan but also someone who found joy and camaraderie in every game he watched. Yet, it was his profound love for his family that defined him. Spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, and imparting wisdom were moments he treasured above all else.
Lester's life was a testament to the power of love and resilience, qualities that he embodied every day. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering dedication to family, and his ability to find beauty and joy in the simple moments of life.
A service to celebrate Lester's remarkable life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 12:30. As we gather to honor his memory, let us carry forward the love and light he brought into our lives, cherishing the precious moments we shared with him.
