It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lester H. Miller, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on May 30, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 12, 1951, in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, New York, Lester was the beloved son of Robert H. Miller and Ella Mae Smith.
Lester's journey began in the bustling streets of Brooklyn, where he was nurtured by the love of his family. He carried this love with him throughout his life, sharing it with all those he encountered. A devoted father, Lester is survived by his son, Lester Robert Miller, whose life he enriched with wisdom and guidance. His legacy continues through the lives of his five grandchildren: Tia Harley, Keyona Miller, Lester Robert Miller Jr., Darian Miller, and Bria Miller, who will forever cherish the memories of their loving grandfather.
Lester is also survived by his three dear sisters: DeLois Hamrick, Judy Miller Jackson, and Amy Miller, who were his constant companions and confidantes. His extended family includes his nephews, Garry Hamrick, Barry Hamrick, and William Keith Hamrick; his nieces, Dawn Hamrick, LaToya Murray, and Kristin Taneil Sykes; and numerous great nieces and nephews, all of whom remember him fondly. Lester was surrounded by a wide circle of friends who admired and respected him for his warm spirit and unwavering kindness.
A dedicated scholar, Lester pursued his higher education with determination and zeal. He graduated from Trenton State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Management. His thirst for knowledge led him to Rutgers University, where he earned a BA and an MA in Spanish, a language he loved deeply and spoke fluently.
Lester's career spanned several decades, marked by dedication and leadership. He served the State of New Jersey for 27 years, contributing his expertise and commitment. He then transitioned to the banking sector for six years before finding his true calling at Raritan Valley Community College, where he worked as the Executive Director of Business Services for 13 years. His passion for education also led him to share his knowledge as an adjunct professor of accounting for over 25 years at various institutions, inspiring countless students along the way.
Lester’s life was a testament to his faith and his unwavering commitment to helping others. As an active member of The Bridge Church in Hamilton Square, NJ, and a devoted participant in Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years, he touched many lives with his calm demeanor, care, and compassion. His life was a reflection of his dedication to living as a follower of Jesus Christ, a guiding light for all who knew him.
In his leisure time, Lester found joy in learning, reading, and conversing in Spanish, delighting in the beauty of the language. His gentle spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we say farewell to Lester H. Miller, let us celebrate the life of a remarkable man who lived with grace, humility, and a heart full of love. His legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
