Lester Clyde Wallace

August 17, 1957 — May 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lester Clyde Wallace, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Lester peacefully departed this world on May 28, 2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of his family at his home, following a valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 17, 1957, in the small town of Herrin, Illinois, Lester was the cherished son of Charles and Leda Wallace. Raised in a home filled with warmth and laughter, Lester grew up alongside his brothers, Charles Wallace II, Robert Wallace, and William Wallace, all of whom predeceased him. Despite the early loss of his beloved parents and brothers, Lester carried their memory with him, honoring them through his actions and the love he shared with those around him. Lester found his soulmate in Myrna Dailey, and together they built a life rich in love and family. The couple was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Rocklynn Schaefer and Shawna Wallace, who became the center of Lester's world. His daughters, along with their partners, Mike Schaefer and Ron, reflect the values of kindness and strength that Lester instilled in them. A man of simple joys, Lester found his greatest happiness in the company of his family. He was a devoted grandfather to six adoring grandchildren: Zoie Schaefer, Lane Schaefer, Haylie Turner (married to Issac), Lexie Poole, Mattie Poole, and Liam Poole. Lester’s eyes would light up with pride and joy whenever he spoke of his grandchildren, each one holding a special place in his heart. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was telling stories, sharing laughs, or simply offering a listening ear. Lester’s reach extended beyond his immediate family to several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of cherished friends. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures of life and believed in the power of love and family. Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in knowing Lester’s legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved. His strength, resilience, and unwavering love serve as an enduring testament to the man he was and will continue to inspire us. A service to celebrate Lester’s life will be held at Jones Funeral Home, where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life beautifully lived. As we say goodbye, we hold Lester’s memory close, grateful for the time we had and the love he shared. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a cancer charity of your choice, honoring Lester’s courageous battle and his hope for a brighter future for others. Rest in peace, dear Lester. Your love will forever be our guide.
