Leslie Shepherd, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. Born on July 21, 1944, in Orange, New Jersey, Leslie was the cherished daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Laidlaw.
Leslie's life was a testament to her passion for helping others and her love for creativity and animals. She spent many years working in the medical field. Later in life, she transitioned into non-profit leadership, using her talents to support educational initiatives for students in the Dominican Republic.
An artist at heart, Leslie had a remarkable talent for hand-painted folk art. Her creations were not only a reflection of her artistic skill but also her vibrant spirit. Alongside her art, Leslie was an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge and a deep appreciation for stories of all kinds. Her love of animals was well-known, and she found great joy in the companionship of her furry friends.
Leslie's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her beloved daughter Noah Feldman, her grandsons Jacob and Nathan Feldman, and bother Todd and Donna Laidlaw along with their respective children, Andrew, Jackie, and Scott, who will deeply miss her presence in their lives.
In honor of Leslie's love for animals, the family kindly requests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in New York, NY. Leslie's compassionate spirit and dedication to the welfare of animals will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Leslie's life and legacy, in accordance with the wishes of her family.
