Lesia Kay Jones
January 8, 1976 — August 12, 2026
Lesia Kay Jones, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, left this world on August 12, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on January 8, 1976, in the vibrant city of Kansas City, Kansas, Lesia was the cherished daughter of Margaret Jones and the late Louie Jones.
From her early days, Lesia's radiant spirit and boundless enthusiasm for life shone brightly. She graduated with pride from Central High School Blue Eagles in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1976, and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Her academic and professional journey was marked by a commitment to excellence, culminating in a successful career as a Senior Buyer at Oracle America, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland. Lesia's professional path eventually led her to Woodbridge, where she embraced new opportunities with the same courage and optimism she brought to every aspect of her life.
Lesia's accomplishments were as diverse as they were impressive. In her younger years, her athletic grace was evident as she proudly represented her hometown as a Kansas City Chiefette and a Royalette. Her passion for health and community inspired her to teach aerobic exercise classes, while her love for music and worship found expression as the Choir Director at St. Monica Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. There, her leadership and love for song inspired many.
Lesia's life was a tapestry woven with love, joy, and friendship. Her kindness and grace touched everyone she encountered, and she will be remembered most for the love she shared so freely. Her greatest joy was found in her family, especially her beloved son, Kenneth Edward Spann III, and Yasmine Clement (friend) who carries forward her legacy of strength and kindness. She also leaves behind her devoted mother, Margaret Jones, and her dear sisters, Dana, Cheryl, and Karen Jones. Her cherished nieces, Rasha Henry and DeAndra Reliford, along with her great-nieces and great-nephew, Margot and Bryce Henry, and Meladee and Melrose Reliford.
Lesia's life was enriched by her many friendships, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to new places, share meals with loved ones, and connect with others in faith and friendship. She loved hearing the Word and lifting her voice in song, finding profound joy and community in her faith.
In her final years, Lesia faced a diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer with remarkable courage and dignity. Her faith, resilience, and loving spirit remained unwavering, inspiring those around her. Her passing at the Annandale Healthcare Facility marks the end of a life lived with purpose, love, and grace.
The family of Lesia Kay Jones extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported them during this time. Your acts of love and kindness are deeply appreciated, and they ask for continued prayers for strength in the Lord.
