LeRoy Raymond Coulter, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 28, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on November 16, 1926, in Jansas, Missouri, LeRoy lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
LeRoy was the cherished son of Berdeen and Floyd Coulter. He grew up on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Despite having to leave school in the 8th grade to help on the farm during his father's illness, LeRoy's zest for life and learning never waned.
In 1947, LeRoy married the love of his life, Phyllis Hanson, in a beautiful ceremony in San Francisco, California. Together, they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage, building a family and creating countless memories until Phyllis's passing. LeRoy was predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis, his parents, and his siblings Alice and Doris, as well as his sons Lyle and Doug.
LeRoy is survived by his devoted sister, Edna, and his loving daughter, Maggie. He leaves behind his son-in-law, Larry, and his cherished grandson, Jason. His legacy also lives on through his great-grandson, Mychaelyn Corbin, who brought immense joy to his later years.
A man of many talents and passions, LeRoy was an avid wood carver, known for his intricate carvings of Indian heads, which he lovingly crafted for each of his sisters, children, and grandchildren. His creations were a testament to his artistic talent and served as a lasting symbol of his love for his family. LeRoy also had a passion for adventure, frequently riding his motorcycle and bicycle long distances, and he was known for his regular hikes along the Devil's Backbone, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.
LeRoy was a dedicated member of the King of Glory Church, where he found solace and community throughout his life. His faith was a guiding force, and he cherished the friendships he made there. Known for his warm heart and great sense of humor, LeRoy was a friend to all, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a laugh.
The Coulter family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and CNAs at Norterre Astoria, as well as the dedicated staff at Interim Hospice, for their exceptional care and support during LeRoy's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in LeRoy's memory to the King of Glory Church, an organization dear to his heart.
As we celebrate LeRoy's remarkable life, we remember him not only for his talents and achievements but also for the love and laughter he brought to those around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
