January 22, 1952 — May 2, 2026

Leroy Johnson, a cherished patriarch and devoted craftsman, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 22, 1952, in the humble town of Enid, Mississippi, Leroy was the beloved son of Willie F. Johnson and Kathleen Johnson. Leroy's journey through life was one of dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to family and craft. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Easter Walls, and his dear siblings: brothers Gene Eddie Barnett, Johnnie Johnson, Carl Zell Johnson, and George Johnson, as well as sisters Charlene Johnson and Carleen Johnson Moten. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew them. He leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by his devoted children: sons Darcus Walls and Carldreicka Walls, and daughter Ja' Centra Walls. Leroy also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Bertha Lee Turner of Courtland, Mississippi, and Eva Mae Johnson Sumerall of Memphis, Tennessee. A proud grandfather, Leroy is survived by 12 adoring grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons and love their grandfather imparted. Leroy's professional life was a testament to his industrious spirit and skilled craftsmanship. As a journeyman of trades, he excelled as a roofer and painter, leaving a mark on the structures he built and painted with care and precision. But it was his unwavering support and willingness to lend a helping hand that defined him; he was a man who took great pride in being present for his family, always ready to step in and help raise any child in need, whether they were his own or not. Leroy's life was enriched by his love for music, cooking, and tinkering. He was often the outspoken heart of family gatherings, bringing joy, laughter, and wisdom to every occasion. His skill in the kitchen was matched only by the warmth of his presence, and his love for music provided the soundtrack to a life well-lived. The Johnson family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Leroy's life on May 11, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home, located at 1500 Park St, Syracuse, New York 13208. In the spirit of Leroy's life, the family shares this special message: "A Journeyman's work is finally complete, The tools are laid down; the rest is sweet. No more the burden, no more the strain, Safe in the harbor away from the pain. The structures he built and the lives he touched, Remain as a legacy, loved so much." Leroy Johnson's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of a life devoted to family and craft. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
