Leonard Courtney

January 9, 1939 — March 31, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonard Courtney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on March 31, 2026, at his cherished home in Los Angeles, California. Leonard was born on January 9, 1939, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, a place that would forever hold a special place in his heart. Leonard was the beloved son of Frank and Dorothy Courtney, both of whom predeceased him, and he carried their legacy forward with grace and dignity. He was a devoted husband to Marilyn Courtney, his loving partner in life for over six decades. Together, they built a family rooted in love, kindness, and unwavering support. Leonard's legacy lives on through his children, Richard Courtney and Laura Clark, along with her husband, Chris. He was a guiding light to his family, instilling values of integrity and compassion that have been passed down through generations. Leonard was also a cherished brother to Allan Courtney and his wife, Nancy, and a nurturing uncle to his nephew, Mike Courtney, and his wife, Katharine, as well as his niece, Heather Lanier. The joy of Leonard's life was magnified by his granddaughters, Linsey Montagne, Karli Montagne, and Kelsi Montagne and her husband, Bryan. He took immense pride in watching them grow and flourish, always offering a steadfast presence of love and wisdom. Leonard was blessed with six grandchildren in total, and his heart swelled with joy at the blessing of four great-grandchildren, who brought him endless smiles and happiness. Leonard's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. He was a man who saw the beauty in the world and sought to share it with those around him. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor Leonard's life will be held at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, California. We invite all those who knew and loved Leonard to join us in celebrating his remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Leonard's memory to a charity of one's choice, as a tribute to his lifelong commitment to helping others. Leonard Courtney will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the memories and hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
