Leonard Charles Dewberry Jr., a beloved son, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and devoted friend, was born on May 29, 1991, in Syracuse, New York, to Babette Sayles and Leonard Charles Sr. Passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 35.
Leonard was a radiant source of warmth, laughter, and light for everyone he encountered. Leonard was exceptionally bright, endlessly comedic, deeply loving, and possessed a strength that anchored his entire family. His presence brought joy, his humor created lasting memories, and his love left an imprint on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. Leonard had a way of making those around him feel his warmth, and his spirit was one that could never be easily forgotten.
Throughout his life, Leonard had an unwavering love for those he cherished. He was someone his loved ones could lean on, a source of comfort through difficult moments. He exemplified strength, loyalty, and love. Above all else, Leonard’s greatest pride and joy was his cherished daughter, Lanari Dewberry. His love for Lanari was immeasurable, and she held a special place in his heart that could never be replaced.
Leonard was the treasured grandson of Elizabeth Blackshear. He is survived by his daughter, Lanari Dewberry, along with his siblings: Janeequa Dewberry (Jose), Markeec Dewberry, Trevon Sayles, Mykel Kimbrough (Ashley), Myquian Kimbrough, Mykeem Kimbrough, and Brianna Dewberry (Stephen). Israel D., Julius W., Tre W., Zayquian C., and Greg A. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews whom he adored. His aunts, Shirelle, Tera, Cindy, and Sade, a host of cousins, and lifelong friends who were touched by his love and laughter. His uncles, Quain and Flagg, who predeceased him, are undoubtedly welcoming him with open arms.
Though Leonard’s passing brings deep sorrow, his life is a reason for joy and gratitude. We were truly lucky to have known such a beautiful person who brought warmth, laughter, and love into the lives of so many. He was love, loved by all, and that love will live forever. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
