March 30, 1937 — April 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Leona Elaine Jendra, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Leona departed this world on April 8, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 30, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Leon and Casimera Trojanowski, who preceded her in death. Leona was a beacon of love and kindness, embodying the true spirit of selflessness and community. Her life was a testament to the power of familial bonds and the joy found in the simplest of gatherings. A devoted mother and "Grammy", Leona's enduring love and unwavering support were the cornerstones of her family. She leaves behind her cherished children, Tim (Karen) Jendra, Bryan (Laura) Jendra, and Kevin (Sheri) Jendra, who were the light of her life. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Brett (Cheri) Jendra, Kyle Jendra, Drew (Michelle) Jendra, Madeline (Erik) Ziolkowski, Tyler Jendra (fiancée Kendall Paris), Jillian (Justin) Wittl, and Rachel Jendra, as well as her great-grandchildren, Brooks Jendra, Bennett Jendra, Nolan Ziolkowski, and Halo Wittl. Leona’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. Her sister, Barbara Gutman (Rod Heilman), shared a lifelong bond with Leona, filled with cherished memories and laughter. In her community, Leona was a dynamic presence, never having met a stranger and always eager to join social clubs where her warmth and friendliness could shine. She was the former president of the youth baseball auxiliary, where her leadership and passion for her community left an indelible mark. Leona's vibrant life will be celebrated with a service on April 13, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Christ the Servant Church, located at 8700 Havens Dr., Woodridge, IL 60517. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in commemorating a life filled with love, laughter, and boundless generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, a cause close to Leona’s heart, as a tribute to her caring nature and lifelong commitment to helping others. Leona Elaine Jendra will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her infectious smile, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and compassion. While she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace, dear Leona; your love will echo in our hearts forever.
