Leon Wilson July 3, 1944 – June 29, 2026 With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Leon Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Leon peacefully departed this world on June 29, 2026, just shy of his 82nd birthday, after a courageous battle with a stroke. He was surrounded by the love of his family and the tender care of those who held him dear. Born on July 3, 1944, in the humble town of Cold Water, Mississippi, Leon was the cherished son of Willie and Martha Wilson. His upbringing in Mississippi and later years in Memphis, Tennessee, shaped him into a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. Leon was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Martha, as well as his brother, Willie Rossell, and sister, Alma Beaty. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, carried on by his devoted wife of 41 years, Carol, his children Richard (Renee) Wilson, and Tameka (Ced) McDonald, and his treasured grandchildren, Secquoyah, Kierra (Jacob, Sr), Tyrek, Woo, Marcus, and Zyria. A man of many talents and passions, Leon attended Melrose High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He went on to build a fulfilling career as a Shipping Coordinator, dedicating 20 years to both Davis Cabinet Company and Pacific Flooring. His work ethic was admired by all who knew him, and his presence was a source of warmth and encouragement to his colleagues. Leon had a zest for life that was evident in his love for cooking. Renowned for his delightful potato salad, he relished the joy it brought to family gatherings, cookouts, and celebrations. His culinary skills were matched by his enthusiasm for travel, particularly to jazz festivals and sporting events. An avid Titans fan, Leon shared many memorable moments cheering for his favorite team with his family and friends. Leon’s spirit of generosity and kindness extended beyond his immediate family to his siblings, Susie Wright of Chicago and Bertha Wilson, and his devoted sisters-in-law, Earline Rossell, Mary McKissack, Luvenia Brown, Rosie Brown, Pearline Everett, Clara Brown, and brothers-in-law, Clayton Brown, Jr., Walter Brown, and Anthony Brown. His circle of friendship included dear friends Terrell Holt, Kevin Whitelaw, Lisa McClain, Shirley and Annie Williams, and Patricia Birdsong, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. In honor of Leon's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Alive Hospice in Hendersonville, Tennessee, Johnson McGinnis Elder Law Firm, and Alta Heights Acute Center for their compassionate care and support during Leon's final days. Leon’s life was a testament to the power of love, community, and resilience. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we hold close the memories of his laughter, his stories, and the warmth he shared with everyone he met. Though he has left our physical world, his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those who loved him.
