Leon Evans
December 12, 1956 — October 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Leon Evans, aged 69, on October 11, 2026. Born on December 12, 1956, in Tallulah, Louisiana, Leon was the cherished son of Mary and Leon Evans. His life was a tapestry of rich experiences, woven with love, dedication, and a profound commitment to his family and community.
Leon was a man of remarkable achievements, both in his personal and professional life. He pursued his passion for leadership at Morehouse University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Leadership. This academic accomplishment was a testament to his unwavering dedication to personal growth and excellence.
A proud patriot, Leon served his country with honor, dedicating 34 years of his life to the United States Marine Corps. His service was marked by courage and unwavering commitment, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and community.
Leon also pursued a dream that many hold dear—playing professional baseball. He was a talented athlete who played for the Chicago Cubs for two years, an achievement that brought joy not only to him but to everyone who watched him on the field. Though his career was cut short by injury, his love for the game remained a cherished part of his life.
For four decades, Leon was a devoted member of the Full Gospel Temple of Jesus Christ, where he found spiritual solace and community. His faith was a guiding light in his life, one that he shared generously with others.
Leon’s legacy is carried forward by his beloved spouse, Clara Evans, and his children: Seeairrah Evans Collins, Jautae Collins, Leonte Collins, Keisha Felton, Sean Evans, and Leon Evans Jr. He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and an adored great-grandfather to 30 great-grandchildren, each of whom he treasured deeply. His family was his greatest joy, and he relished every moment spent with them.
A service to honor Leon’s life will be held on November 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Full Gospel Temple of Jesus Christ, located at 817 E Carey Ave, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a life well-lived and to share in the love and memories he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Leon’s memory to a charity of your choice.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we hold onto his words: “Don’t cry for me, I’m in a better place.” Leon Evans will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
