LEO REBOLLOSO YRUEGAS

December 4, 1941 — May 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leo Rebollo Yruegas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on May 12, 2026, at the age of 84. Leo was born on December 4, 1941, to Juan Yruegas and Paula Rebollo Yruegas in the heart of Texas, where he cultivated a life rich in love, laughter, and legacy. Leo’s life was a tapestry of resilience and hard work, beginning his journey as a migrant worker in the fields, where he picked cotton in McKinney, Texas. His youthful vigor led him to the RC Can Cola Company in Illinois, and later, to Mohawk Construction Company, where he honed his skills in pouring concrete for residential and commercial buildings. But it was in 1979 that Leo’s entrepreneurial spirit truly shone, as he opened the doors of Chito’s Mexican Restaurant in Dallas, Texas. For 15 years, Chito’s was a culinary haven, celebrated by Dallas elites and featured in Big D Magazine as one of the top ten best Mexican restaurants in the city. Afterward, Leo lent his skills to the City of Garland City Works Department and later joined his son at North Texas Palms & Pottery in McKinney as a dedicated salesperson. Ever resourceful, he also fixed lawn mowers and weed eaters, embodying the true spirit of a hardworking Texan. Leo’s life was not solely defined by his work; he was a man of many passions. He found joy in the strum of a guitar, the restoration of his cherished 1949 Business Coupe car, and the serene act of fishing. He was an adventurer at heart, always on the hunt for treasures and fossils. A keen taxidermist and a painter of wildlife, Leo’s artistic flair was as vibrant as his cooking, which was infused with love and tradition. On February 14, 1965, in Hidalgo, Texas, Leo married the love of his life, Carlota Lozano. Together, they built a family rooted in love and strength. His legacy lives on through his children Raul (Garland), Yvette (Rowlett), Leopoldo (Princeton), Edward (Dallas), Jessica (Rowlett), and Javier (Garland), who carry forward his values and dreams. His warmth and wisdom are cherished by his 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will forever remember their "Abuelo" for his stories, laughter, and the gleam in his eye when surrounded by family. Leo is predeceased by his mother, Paula Salinas, father, Juan Yruegas, stepfather, Fidencio Salinas, and brothers Juan Yruegas and Oscar Salinas. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carlota, his loving sisters Irma Cervantes and Lydia Kowalski, and a family that stretches across generations, each member a testament to his enduring legacy. A service to honor Leo’s life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home, located at 2500 TX-66, Rockwall, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate a life well-lived, sharing memories of a man who touched the hearts of many. In remembering Leo, we celebrate a formidable spirit and a life devoted to love, family, and the simple joys that made him truly remarkable. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
