In Loving Memory

Leo Francis Andrews
February 6, 1946 — July 6, 2026
Leo Francis Andrews, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on February 6, 1946, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Leo was the cherished son of the late Emery and Elizabeth (Bernier) Andrews.
Leo grew up in a lively household, surrounded by his siblings and the warmth of his family's love. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Melanie Andrews, brother Br. David Andrews C.S.C, sister Kathleen Viveiros, and nieces and nephews Candice, Connie, Brian, Richie, and James, he is survived by his loving siblings: Bruce Andrews and his wife Carol of San Diego, CA; James Andrews and his wife Susan of Mashpee, MA; Jane Correia and her husband Ernest of Berkley, MA; Timothy Andrews and his wife Emily of Baxley, GA; Dennis Andrews and his wife Deborah of Merrimac, NH; and Kevin Andrews and his wife Sheryl of Clackamas, OR. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces Kasey Zorns of Marion, OH, and Amy Johnson of Johnston, RI, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A proud graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton, Massachusetts, Leo went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1971, earning the rank of Sergeant. His dedication and service were recognized with the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
For over 50 years, Leo dedicated himself to his career as a Professional Direct Support worker, retiring at the age of 75. His commitment to helping others was evident in every aspect of his life, and he was known for the kindness and compassion he showed to everyone he met.
In his younger years, Leo was an avid tennis player and enjoyed basketball and baseball. He had a passion for watching sports, especially cheering on the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins. He delighted in the excitement of the Olympics and had a special fondness for betting on dog and horse races, always with his special formula in mind.
Leo's life was filled with music and adventure. He was a concert enthusiast, attending performances by Elton John, Tina Turner, Ozzy Osbourne, Kool and the Gang, Menudo, and many more, always sharing those experiences with his loved ones. He relished family gatherings, often being the first to arrive and the first to leave, lighting up the room with his fun-loving spirit.
A self-taught artist, Leo's creativity knew no bounds, from painting portraits to murals, even rocks. His love for adventure was matched by his passion for travel, often taking out a loan just to embark on a new journey. He was also an enthusiastic gardener, firmly believing in the magic of planting anything and watching it grow.
Leo will be remembered for his excellent sportsmanship, artistic talent, and his love for electronics, from his laptop for watching races to late-night television. Above all, he loved his family deeply and was a devoted "fun uncle" who enjoyed life's simple pleasures, like sharing a joint or a drink with loved ones.
In his final days, Leo was cared for by his dedicated caregiver, Amy, and the compassionate staff at Beacon Hospice in East Providence, RI. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his nurse Liddy, social worker Alexis, CNA Brooklyn, Demaris, his deacon Cody, and the entire staff who provided comfort and care. Special thanks also go to Atwood Pharmacy and their staff for making Leo feel like a valued member of the community.
In memory of Leo, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. As we celebrate Leo's life, we remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives, and his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
A Memorial and Burial will be at a later date.
