Lenora June Russell Smith

Lenora June Russell Smith, lovingly known as June, was born on July 3, 1948, in Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness in her community until her peaceful passing on August 30, 2013, at her home in Kilgore, Texas, due to a stroke. June was a cherished daughter of the late Mary Alice Coleman Russell and Fred Nathaniel Russell. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy Wayne Smith, with whom she shared a life filled with love and partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their son, Kenneth Smith, and his wife, Nicole, and their daughters, Maryanne Smith and Rachel Dolle. June took immense pride in her five grandchildren: Kody Smith, Tyler Nixon, Lexy Smith, Halyn McKenzie, and Weston McKenzie, who were the light of her life. As a dedicated employee, June served at the Liberty City Water Supply, where her work ethic and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her professional life, June was a steadfast member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty City. Her faith and commitment to her church community were evident in her active participation and the impact she had on those around her. June's legacy is also carried on by her siblings: her sisters, Janeice Ragland and her husband, Jeff, and Brenda Harvey; her brother, Thomas Russell and his wife, Bonnie; alongside numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her brother-in-law, Bo Harvey, and her dear niece, Angie Harvey. A memorial service to celebrate June's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Liberty City, with Reverend Bruce Wells officiating. It is a time to honor a life well-lived, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. In June's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the African Mission Team of Aaron and Hannah Mason.
