Lenora Brown, born April 24, 1925, in the quaint town of Coffee Creek, Arkansas, peacefully passed away at her home in Georgia on June 1, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101. Lenora's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. The cherished daughter of Brinkley and Mariah Allen, Lenora was predeceased by her parents and her beloved brother, McKinley Allen. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her children: Renee Ford (Rick), Montreese Reeves, Thelonius Brown (Danielle), and Symeon Brown. Her memory will continue to be celebrated by her grandchildren: Darius and Jasmine Ford, Jetuán and Jenay Reeves, Carmen and Portia Brown, Lenay and Lamar Brown, Keisha, Britni, Daizya, and Ryhan Brown. The light of her life will shine on in her 18 great-grandchildren and her long-time friend, Fail Dixon. Lenora shared a beautiful life with her husband, Benjamin Brown, with whom she raised a family of four children. Their union was one of mutual respect, joy, and unwavering support, which laid the foundation for the thriving family they nurtured together. After graduating from high school in Arkansas, Lenora moved to Chicago, where she pursued her passion for beauty and style by attending cosmetology school. She earned her cosmetology license and spent many years working in various beauty salons throughout Chicago. Her clients were not just customers but friends who cherished her expertise, great humor, and dedication. An active member of the New Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Elzie Young, Lenora's faith was a cornerstone of her life. The church community was where she raised her children and where she extended her kindness and generosity to everyone she met. Lenora had a zest for life that was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She was known for her ability to build furniture and nurture her garden, finding peace in the simplicity of creation and growth. She also had a love for travel, often flying across the world with her eldest son, embracing each new adventure with enthusiasm and wonder. Her quick wit and warm smile were her trademarks, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and make others feel at ease. Lenora had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her kindness and generosity touched countless lives. Those who knew her will remember her as a beacon of joy and warmth. A celebration of Lenora's life will be held on June 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home, located at 3240 West 79th Street, Chicago, IL 60652-1948. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor her life and legacy, sharing stories and memories that pay tribute to a remarkable woman who lived her life with grace and love.
