Lennie small
February 5, 1930 — October 21, 1963
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Lennie Small, who left this world on October 21, 1963. Born on February 5, 1930, in the sun-drenched fields of California, Lennie's life was a testament to the power of innocence, strength, and unwavering friendship.
Lennie's early years were lovingly nurtured by his devoted aunt, Clara Small, who provided him with a foundation of care and love. After Aunt Clara's passing, Lennie found solace and guidance in the steadfast companionship of George Milton. Together, Lennie and George forged a bond that transcended mere friendship, becoming brothers in every sense of the word.
Lennie faced unique mental challenges from birth, navigating life with a heart as pure as the California skies. He found beauty in the simple things—nature's splendor, the softness of a gentle touch, and the dream of one day tending to his own rabbits. Despite his unmatched physical strength, he harbored a peaceful soul, never intending harm, and often unaware of the power he possessed.
A man of few words, Lennie's gentle presence spoke volumes. His laughter could fill a room, and his joy was as infectious as it was genuine. He lived without prejudice, viewing the world with childlike wonder and seeing the goodness in every heart he encountered.
As a farm worker, Lennie was known for his extraordinary work ethic and remarkable physical prowess. Colleagues marveled at his ability to outwork any team, earning him the affectionate admiration of being "strong as a bull." Yet, it was Lennie's willingness to help others and his gentle nature that left an indelible impression on every ranch and farm he graced.
Though Lennie's journey ended tragically, his legacy of innocence and kindness remains etched in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind his dearest friend George Milton, who stood by him through every trial and triumph, and who will forever hold Lennie in the sanctuary of memory.
A service to honor Lennie's life will be held on December 15, 1953, at 2:15 PM at Miller Plonka, located at 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Lennie's memory to a local animal shelter, honoring his love for all creatures great and small.
Lennie Small was a deeply good man, loved fiercely by those who truly understood his heart. Though his life was brief, his spirit remains, resting in the quiet pastures of his dreams. He will be deeply missed and remembered always for the sweetness of his soul.
