Born on May 31, 1938, in the heart of Dooly County, Georgia, Leila was the cherished daughter of Dan and Pearline Lester. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, and dedication. Leila's upbringing in Dooly County was shared with her siblings, Mary Henry, Martha Howard, Earnestine Young, Lonnie Lester, James Lester, Lizzy Lester, Willie Charles Lester, TJ Whitehead, and Pauline Green, all of whom predeceased her. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond that taught Leila the values of family, strength, and perseverance. Leila married and was blessed with two wonderful children, Tracy Smith and Stanley Smith. She was a devoted mother who instilled in her children the virtues of kindness and integrity. As her family grew, she found immense joy in her grandsons, Cameron Chambers and Harrison Smith, who, along with Harrison's wife, Nadia, were constant sources of pride and happiness. A pillar of her community, Leila resided in the Grand Park Community for over fifty years. Her presence there was marked by warmth and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a cherished friend to many and a guiding light to her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Leila's life was a testament to the power of compassion and the impact of a kind heart. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared by those she touched and the love she imparted to her family and community. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Grand Park Community for their unwavering support and friendship throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Leila's generous spirit and her dedication to helping others. Leila Kate Smith's life was one of grace, love, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
