LeeRoy Allen McGuire
May 29, 1932 — July 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of LeeRoy Allen McGuire, a remarkable man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. Lee passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
Lee was born at home on the family farm in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota, on May 29, 1932, to George McGuire and Agnus Henrietta (Etta) McGuire. He was the youngest of their children and grew up surrounded by the beauty and challenges of rural life. His formative years were shaped by the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion, which he carried with him throughout his life.
In Litchfield, Minnesota, Lee found both his educational foundation and the love of his life, Marlene R. Nelson. After graduating summa cum laude and attending Macalester College, Lee and Marlene married on November 16, 1951. Together, they built a life rich in love and companionship, welcoming three children into their family and sharing nearly 60 years of marriage until Marlene's passing.
Lee's professional journey began on the farm, where his connection to the land was deepened through years of dedicated farming. Later, he transitioned to a career as an insurance salesman, where his integrity and commitment endeared him to colleagues and clients alike. Despite the demands of work, Lee's heart always belonged to the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, often retreating to "the shack" up north to build, hunt, and relish the tranquility of nature.
A man of unwavering faith, Lee was actively involved in the Episcopal Church, serving as a lay reader and vestry member. His dedication to community service extended to his roles with the Shriners, where he joyously participated in parades on his motorcycle, and the Exchange Club, where he fostered connections and made lasting contributions.
Lee is predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlene, his parents George and Etta, and his brothers George Jr. and Lloyd. He is survived by his loving children, William E. McGuire (Lois), Debra Lee Squillace (Michael), and Timothy J. McGuire. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Mary McGuire (Carlos), Melanie Shaw (Ian), Ann McGuire (Mike), Timothy Squillace (Brooke), Quinn Riley (Quinton), and Eli McGuire, and eight cherished great-grandchildren.
In honoring Lee's memory, the family kindly suggests donations to a charity of your choice. They would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbor Terrace and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
LeeRoy Allen McGuire will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a true friend. His life was a beacon of kindness and service, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
