Lee E. Witherspoon

It is with heavy hearts and deep appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lee E. Witherspoon, who departed this world on August 2, 2026, at the age of 66, after a lengthy illness. Lee's journey began on November 15, 1959, in Manning, South Carolina, born to the late Albert Witherspoon and Vivian Wright-Witherspoon. He was a man whose life was a testament to resilience, warmth, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. Lee's early years were spent in Baltimore, where he received his education through the Baltimore City Public Schools System. It was here that he discovered his lifelong passion for cars and engines, a fascination that would guide his future. Known as a master mechanic, Lee possessed an uncanny ability to diagnose automotive issues with remarkable precision, often just by sound or smell. His career spanned notable positions at Murray's Kwikee Car Wash, and as a master mechanic at Antwerpen Nissan Security and Jerry's Toyota. Through his work, Lee ensured that countless individuals could travel safely, embodying his commitment to the well-being of others. Beyond his professional endeavors, Lee found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished moments spent at home, unwinding with a few cold beverages in the company of family and friends, sharing stories and laughter that resonated with warmth and camaraderie. His home was a sanctuary where love and friendship were always abundant. Lee is lovingly remembered by his children, Donta Witherspoon, LaDawn Jackson-Shields and her husband Edward Shields III, Keon Witherspoon, and Shionna McCarty. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren, Daisha, Caron, Keon Jr., Kamera, Donyae, and Angelon, as well as two great-grandchildren, Mase and D'auri. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Sallie Montgomery, Annie Witherspoon, and Aurelia Witherspoon; brothers, Winfred and Wilfred Witherspoon; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a cherished cousin, Nathaniel Witherspoon, and the close-knit Jackson family. Preceding him in death are his beloved parents, Albert and Vivian, his sister Carolyn Witherspoon-Winders, and his brother Alfred Witherspoon. Their memories remain deeply woven into the fabric of Lee's life and the hearts of those left behind. A service to honor Lee's life will be held on August 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wylie Funeral Home, located at 5657 The Alameda, Baltimore, Maryland 21239. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Lee's generous spirit. The Witherspoon family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sinai Hospital, hospice, and Future Care Lochern for their compassionate care during Lee's final days. Their support and kindness provided comfort during a challenging time. Lee E. Witherspoon will be remembered for his tireless dedication, his unyielding love for family and friends, and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him. His legacy is one of strength, laughter, and an enduring passion for the things he loved most. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we all cherish the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
