It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leandro Botes, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, on April 20, 2026. Leandro, 65, was born on February 27, 1961, in the vibrant town of Corozal, Belize, to his beloved mother Elvira Botes and stepfather, Feliciano UK. Leandro's journey through life was marked by kindness, resilience, and an enduring love for his family. His early days in Corozal were filled with the warmth of family and community, values he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his father, Feliciano UK, his dear mother, Elvira Botes, and his sister, Emelda Botes. Leandro leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his devoted wife, Julia Botes, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unwavering support. Together, they raised a beautiful family of eight children: Iris (Henry) Guy, Heidy (Naldo) Yam, Sucely (Bernard) Codd, Angelita (Alejandro) Pinelo, Leandro Botes (Maricela Bo), Walter Botes (Jennifer Barahona), David Botes, and José Luis Botes. His children were the pride of his life, and he took immense joy in watching them grow and succeed. In addition to his children, Leandro was a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren, each of whom he adored and inspired with his gentle wisdom and humor. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, a symbol of the enduring legacy he leaves behind. Leandro is also survived by his six siblings, Maria (Tito) Pech, Rosalía (Leohildo) Avila, Hilberto (Estela) Uk, Feliciano Uk, Ana Maria Varela, and Artemio Uk, alongside numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who will remember him fondly for his generosity and infectious smile. Leandro's life was a testament to the power of love and community. He touched the hearts of many with his kind spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether spending time with family, engaging in community activities, or simply sharing a story, Leandro's presence brought joy and comfort to those around him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led—a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
