In Loving Memory

Leah Jo Story
October 26, 1957 — June 1, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leah Jo Story, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 68. Leah passed away peacefully at 5:40 PM at Parkview Nursing Home in the comforting presence of her family and friends. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the cherished bonds of family.
Born on October 26, 1957, in Paducah, Kentucky, Leah was the cherished daughter of John Fred Hartle and Norma Hartle. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Olen Story, and her parents, John and Norma. Leah's life was one of love and dedication, qualities she passed on to her surviving family members who now carry her legacy forward with pride.
Leah is survived by her devoted daughter, Norman JoAnn Story Risden, and her son-in-law, Brandon Risden. She was the proud grandmother of two wonderful grandchildren, Charles Michael Wayne McManus and James Brandon Lynn McManus, who brought immense joy to her life. Leah also welcomed her granddaughter-in-law, Hailey Thomas, and found immense delight in her great-grandson, who was a light in her days. Her sister, Lisa Page, shared a special bond with Leah, and her nephew, Jacob Page, and niece, Trisha Page, were close to her heart.
A graduate of Tillman High School, Leah's work ethic and dedication were evident in her long tenure at Owens Cleaners, where she was a valued employee for many years. Her colleagues remember her as a woman with a heart of gold, a source of warmth and kindness in her workplace.
Leah found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching antenna TV with her grandson, Charles, cherishing those quiet moments of shared entertainment and laughter. Her personality was marked by a fierce loyalty and a vibrant spirit. She was known for her unyielding love and, as her daughter lovingly recalls, a "heart of gold until you made her mad." Leah's honesty, love, and generosity touched all who knew her.
As we say goodbye to Leah, we remember her with love and gratitude. Her legacy is the love she nurtured within her family and the kindness she shared with the world. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she left behind and in the stories shared by those who knew her.
A celebration of Leah's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Leah's name to a charity of choice, as a way to continue the kindness and compassion that Leah embodied throughout her life.
Rest in peace, Leah Jo Story. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
