February 14, 1981 — April 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Layita K. Jackson, affectionately known as "Yita," who left this world on April 13, 2026, at the age of 45. Born on February 14, 1981, in Stuttgart, Germany, Yita brought a radiant light into the lives of all she touched and leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and creativity. Yita was the cherished daughter of Annie and Melvin Stallworth, who survive her, along with her beloved brother, Emmanual Stallworth. Her extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and an incredible circle of friends, also mourn her loss. She was predeceased by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins, who have welcomed her into the embrace of eternity. Yita's educational journey began at Daleville High School, from which she graduated in 1999. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for the arts led her to the University of Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Her time there was marked by a deep engagement with the arts, which became a lifelong passion and an integral part of her identity. Yita had an extraordinary love for the arts, a passion that she pursued with both heart and talent. Whether through painting, music, or theater, she found joy and solace in creativity, and she inspired those around her to appreciate the beauty in everyday life. A memorial service to celebrate Yita's life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Pleasant Shade Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1891 Damascus Road, Enterprise, Alabama 36330. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Yita are invited to attend and share in this celebration of her life. In the words of her family: "Though your smile is gone forever, and your hand I cannot touch, I still have so many memories of a daughter I loved so much. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart." Layita K. Jackson's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of those who have gone before her and forever remembered by those she leaves behind.
