It is with deep sorrow and reverence that we announce the passing of Lawrence Edward Thomas Jr, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend. Lawrence departed this world on June 13, 2026, at the age of 31, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. Born on August 31, 1994, in Kankakee, Illinois, Lawrence was a beacon of light to all who knew him. From a young age, Lawrence exhibited a gentle spirit and a heart full of compassion. Known affectionately as a "Gentle Giant," he possessed a deep love for his family, particularly his cherished daughter, Linda, whom he adored beyond measure. His parents, Lawrence Edward Thomas Sr and Mary M Jones, instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life, shaping him into a man of integrity and kindness. Lawrence's educational journey led him from Lakeview High School in Lakeview, Minnesota, to Everest College, where he earned an associate's degree as a Medical Assistant. His career path was diverse, reflecting his curiosity and willingness to embrace new challenges. From working in plastic manufacturing to contributing to Minnesota Roads Management in construction, Lawrence's dedication and work ethic were evident in every role he undertook. He was also a passionate educator, conducting Zoom classes on day trading and credit repair, sharing his knowledge with others and empowering them to achieve financial independence. A man of deep faith, Lawrence was an ordained minister at New Life Church for three years, where he delivered sermons inspired by the Holy Spirit. His ministry was a testament to his unwavering belief in the power of love and redemption. Lawrence's hobbies included fishing, ice fishing, and hunting—activities that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in its tranquility. Lawrence's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Linda Black; his devoted mother, Mary M Jones; his stepfather, Bruce Jones; his sisters, Delaina Mitchell and Deanna Sykes; his twin brothers, Lionel and Lazell Thomas; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Though his marriage to Delisa Rawls ended in divorce, he was looking forward to a new chapter with his fiancée, whose love and companionship brought him joy. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Earlean Alberta Hughes, his uncle Bob Tally Sr, and several other dear family members, including Timothy Hughes, Timothy Hughes Jr, Larry W Hughes, and cousin Jim P Hughes 2nd. Their memories will be cherished, and their spirits remembered through Lawrence's enduring legacy. A celebration of Lawrence's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Get Same Garden Church, located at 1500 West Willow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, honoring Lawrence's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner and Simple Traditions by Bradshaw in Saint Paul for their compassionate services during this difficult time. Lawrence Edward Thomas Jr will forever be remembered for his unwavering faith, his boundless love for his family, and his dedication to uplifting others. May his soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love he so freely gave to all.
