Lawrence Edward Murphy, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026. Born on January 23, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Lawrence, affectionately known as "Larry" to those closest to him, lived a life rich in love, adventure, and craftsmanship. A devoted family man, Larry was predeceased by his sister Marianne Murphy. He is survived by His partner of 40 plus years, Phyllis Cameron and his two daughters Tara Murphy and Ani Murphy-Robinson. Larry's life was further blessed by the joy of being a grandfather, with one grandchild who brought immense happiness to his days. Larry proudly served his country in both the Coastguard and the Merchant Marines, embodying the spirit of service and dedication. His professional life was spent as a wood shop teacher, a role in which he inspired countless students with his passion for craftsmanship. Additionally, he was an accomplished cabinet maker and boat builder, talents that reflected his deep connection to the art of working with wood. Outside of his professional pursuits, Larry was a man of many interests. He found great joy in woodworking and was known for his remarkable skill and attention to detail. An avid cook, he delighted friends and family with his culinary creations, often bringing people together around the table. Larry's love for travel took him across the globe, where he embraced new cultures and experiences with a spirit of adventure. Larry's commitment to his community was evident in his role as President of Fox Farm in Maine, where he played a pivotal part in fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among members. The family is especially grateful to the staff at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA. Their compassionate care and kindness during Larry's final days brought comfort to him and his family, for which they will be forever thankful. Larry's life was a testament to the values of love, dedication, and community. He will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
