Lawrence E. Woods, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 62. Born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 30, 1963, Lawrence was the cherished son of Charlene Woods and the late Eddie Woods. Lawrence was a man of profound character, known for his kind heart and giving spirit. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, his charm undeniable and his personality unmatched. Those who knew Lawrence knew that he was often the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went. He grew up in Memphis and graduated from Manassas High School in 1982. Shortly after, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1981 to 1985, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, Lawrence embarked on a long and respected career with Ford Motor Company as a team leader in MPL at the Chicago Stamping Plant. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he took great pride in his role, often working tirelessly to ensure success. Lawrence loved life and embraced it fully. He found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was traveling, spending time at the casino, grilling up a feast, or binge-watching his favorite old shows. His zest for life was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to bring people together with his warmth and humor. Family was at the heart of Lawrence’s life. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly, including his daughter Catesia Woods and son Lawrence Woods Jr., his devoted mother Charlene Woods, his sisters Edwena and Cassandra, his brother Edward, and a wealth of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Lawrence was also a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Though he has left this world, Lawrence’s legacy of love and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his extended family and countless friends whose lives he touched with his kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, honoring Lawrence’s lifelong commitment to helping others. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, let us remember Lawrence E. Woods for the love, laughter, and light he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
