Lawrence Burton, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the age of 73, in Cedar City, Utah. Born to Norma and Charles Burton on September 3, 1952, in the same city, Lawrence's life was a testament to kindness, humility, and an unwavering commitment to family and faith. Lawrence was preceded in death by his dear sister, Charlene, but is lovingly remembered by his ex-wife, Rebecca Burton, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond despite their divorce in 2006. Together, they cherished their four children: Dustin Burton, Jeremy Burton, Shayna Allen, and Rayna Boyack. Lawrence was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is survived by his brothers, David and Rex Burton, who were his lifelong companions and confidants. A devoted educator, Lawrence began his career as a school teacher in Shiprock, New Mexico. His passion for learning led him to earn his CNA license and pursue massage therapy. Even after retirement, his dedication to education saw him return to the classroom as a substitute teacher, sharing his knowledge and wisdom with future generations. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lawrence's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found solace in temple ordinances and continued to attend as often as he could, even as his health began to decline. Lawrence was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the great outdoors, hiking and tubing, or lending a hand on the family farm. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Those who knew Lawrence remember him for his selflessness and contentment with life's simplest offerings. He never sought more than he needed and valued the company of family and friends above all else. His visits to the Parowan area were frequent and treasured, and it brings solace to know he will be laid to rest beside his parents, a place that held special meaning for him. A service celebrating Lawrence's life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Salisbury Mortuary, located at 110 South Bluff Street. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Lawrence's memory. As we gather to honor Lawrence's life, we remember a man whose gentle spirit and unwavering love will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
