December 7, 1967 — April 17, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lawrence "Larry" Boege of Schererville, Indiana, who left us suddenly and unexpectedly on April 16, 2026. Larry, a cherished son, brother, and friend, was 58 years old. Born on December 7, 1967, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Rosemary O’Neil Boege and Thomas Norman Boege, Larry was a beacon of light and laughter. Though preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Catherine Riley Leyden, their love and values lived on through Larry's every action and word. Larry was a loving caregiver for Catherine and Thomas. He is fondly remembered and survived by his brothers Thomas (Sherri) Boege Jr. of Huntley, IL, Paul (Hia) Boege of Marysville, WA, twin brother John Boege of Schererville, IN, and his stepbrothers Thomas Leyden of Indianapolis, James Leyden of Littleton, CO, Mark (Maureen) Leyden of Indianapolis, and Paul (Lauren) Leyden of Greenland, NH, who will forever cherish their memories and moments shared with him. Larry's life was marked by a pursuit of knowledge and a dedication to education. A proud graduate of Munster High School, he continued his academic journey at Indiana University, where he cultivated his passion for history and trivia. Larry's intellect was vast, and he was always ready to engage in spirited discussions that revealed his sharp wit and deep understanding of the world around him. A true Chicagoan at heart, Larry was a "foody" whose zest for life was mirrored in his love for exploring new restaurants and savoring the culinary delights of Chicago. His adventures often took him to the tranquil shores of Lake Michigan, where he found peace and inspiration in the gentle lapping of the waves. Larry was more than his interests and accomplishments; he was a kind and witty spirit who found joy in conversation and companionship. His ability to connect with people and forge lasting friendships was a testament to his warm and generous nature. Larry's presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his laughter and kindness will be deeply missed. A memorial mass to honor Larry's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, located at 500 Northgate Dr, Dyer, IN 45311. There will be a visitation for family and friends preceding the mass that will begin at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, a cause close to Larry's heart. Contributions can be made at: https://www.alz.org/ Though Larry has left this world, the impact of his life will resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by love and the echoes of the stories he so dearly cherished.
