Lawayne Oscar Roberson, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN. Born on September 30, 1958, in the quaint town of Cullman, AL, Lawayne was the beloved son of the late Willie Oscar and Francis Marie (Wray) Roberson. Throughout his life, Lawayne was dedicated to his work, farming for local farmers around Lauderdale, a vocation that connected him deeply to the land and his community. His hands, weathered by the sun and soil, told the story of a life spent in honest toil and commitment. Lawayne had a passion for music and found great joy in playing the guitar, a talent that brought comfort and happiness to those around him. His love for raising game chickens was well-known, a hobby that he pursued with great enthusiasm and care. His little dogs, Forrest and Jenny, were his constant companions, bringing him much joy and companionship. In his later years, Lawayne formed a close and special friendship with Rose Allen. Together, they supported and looked out for one another, demonstrating the profound impact of true friendship. Lawayne is survived by his devoted son, Travis Roberson, and daughter-in-law Anna of Dyersburg, TN; his loving daughter, Jessica Sawyer of Halls, TN; and his sister, Belinda Nelson of Cullman, AL. He also leaves behind his three brothers, John, Paul, and Phillip Roberson, all residing in Cullman, AL. Lawayne was the proud grandfather of seven adoring grandchildren: Madisyn Roberson, Makaylyn Sawyer, Brevyn Sawyer, Emmaryah Sawyer, Cali Roberson, Reed Roberson, and Nolen Jones, as well as one cherished great-grandchild, Corjustin Thompson Jr. A service to honor and celebrate Lawayne's life will be held on August 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Concord Cemetery, located at 1043 Wilkes Rd., Gates, TN 38037. His family invites all those who knew and loved him to join in remembering the life of a remarkable man whose legacy will live on in the hearts of many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Lawayne's memory, allowing his spirit of giving and kindness to continue touching lives. Lawayne's life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege to know him.
