LaVonne Dorothy Voelz

August 21, 1930 — June 24, 2026

It is with both sadness and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of LaVonne Dorothy Voelz, who departed this world peacefully at her home in Concordia, Copley, Ohio, on June 24, 2026, at the age of 95. LaVonne's journey began on a farm in Minnesota, born on August 21, 1930, to Lillian and Harold Lueck. LaVonne's early years were spent amidst the pastoral beauty of Minnesota, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse before graduating from Danube High School. Her life took a beautiful turn when she married her high school sweetheart, Emil A. Voelz, Jr., in 1949, embarking on a lifelong journey of love and partnership. She worked while he attended Colorado University and then enlisted in the AirForce. They lived in many places while he was an AirForce pilot. Together, they embraced the joys and challenges of parenthood through the adoption of their three cherished children: Anne Woodward, David Voelz, and Jeffrey Voelz. Devoted to her family, LaVonne chose to be a stay-at-home mother, providing a nurturing environment filled with warmth and love. Her heart was generous, her spirit caring, and her love for Jesus was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a woman of deep faith, attending Faith Lutheran church before finding a spiritual home at The Chapel for many years. LaVonne's life was a testament to the power of a life lived to honor her savior. She was known in her community for her culinary talents, often sharing her homemade dishes and cookies with friends and neighbors, spreading joy through her kitchen creations. Her house was never without homemade cookis in the cookie jar. Her love for "working the soil" and gardening reflected her nurturing nature and her deep connection to the earth while her connection to her Jesus was evident by the hymns she hummed or sang as she went about her daily duties. She often talked about hearing her father sing hymns as he worked in the barn milking cows. Her favorite pass time was to read her Bible that stayed open on her coffee table. LaVonne was predeceased by her beloved husband and her younger brothers, a loss she bore with grace and strength, finding comfort in her faith and the promise of reuniting with them in Heaven. She is survived by her children, Anne, David, and Jeffrey, and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness in her five grandchildren: Abigail Woodward, Joshua Woodward, Lydia Woodward, Jeffrey Voelz, and Anna Voelz. Her family invites you to join them in celebrating LaVonne's life on [date of service] at Rose Hill Funeral Home, located at 3653 W. Market St, Akron, Ohio 44333. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Akron Pregnancy Services or Camp Carl in LaVonne's memory, honoring her lifelong commitment to compassion and service to others. LaVonne Dorothy Voelz's life was a symphony of love and faith, resonating in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift, a beautiful reminder of a life well-lived and a love well-shared.
