LaVon Clakley

LaVon Clakley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2026. Born on September 22, 1943, in Austin, she was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life. LaVon was predeceased by her devoted husband, Robert Clakley, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage beginning in 1961. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, nurturing a family that was the center of LaVon's world. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Donna Clakley, David Clakley, Eva Smitley, and Michael Clakley, who will carry forward the values and warmth she instilled in them. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Rachel Seawood, Jay Young, Kesha Young, Christine Smitley, Robert Smitley, and Ian Clakley. Each of them carries a piece of her heart and spirit, and they will continue to honor her memory in their lives. LaVon's professional life was spent enriching the community through her work at the Cedar Park Public Library, from which she retired. Her gentle heart and unwavering kindness made her a valued presence there, touching countless lives with her warmth and compassion. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed and cherished, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she was a pillar of strength and grace. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and selfless spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. LaVon will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to celebrate LaVon's life will be held on July 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Granger, located at 301 W Davilla St, Granger, TX 76530. The family invites all who knew and loved LaVon to join them in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice, in keeping with LaVon's generous spirit. The Clakley family shares this special message with their loved ones: “Where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them.” — Matthew 18:20. They find comfort in the knowledge that LaVon's spirit will continue to be with them, guiding and watching over them always.
