Lavlett Knight

July 18, 1941 — October 16, 2026

Lavlett Knight, a cherished soul who filled the lives of those around her with warmth and laughter, passed away peacefully at her home on October 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 18, 1941, in Farmville, VA, Lavlett was the beloved daughter of Lottie Davis and Truly Knight. Lavlett grew up in a lively household, blessed with a large family of 20 siblings. She learned the values of resilience, love, and community from her parents, who have since preceded her in death, along with her cherished son, Keeston Knight. Her sister, Edith Taylor, remains to honor her memory, alongside an extended family who will forever treasure her legacy. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Angela Knight (Marquis Mullen) and Sheila Larkins (Yvette Larkins), who were the pride and joy of her life. Her nurturing spirit continued as a grandmother to nine grandchildren: Laroyia Knight (Robin Peace), Jimia Knight, Keston Knight (Carla Knight), Erin Johnson, Markell Redd, and Desmond Walker, as well as seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Lavlett attended Farmville Va 12th Grade before embarking on a career that would define her life's passion. She began as a housekeeper, but it was in the kitchen where she truly shone, cooking up love and comfort for her family and friends. This dedication to serving others through her culinary talents continued until she was 82 years old, and even then, she could often be found stirring a pot with care and devotion. Beyond her family, Lavlett was a valued member of Federal Post 19 and the Monumental Lodge. Her involvement in these organizations reflected her commitment to community and fellowship. Cooking was not just a hobby for Lavlett; it was a way of life, a means to connect with those she held dear, and a source of joy that she loved to share. Lavlett's life will be celebrated at a service held at Chatman Harris Funeral Home, located on Belair Road in Baltimore, MD. Her family invites all who knew her to join them in remembering and honoring a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lavlett's memory to a charity of your choice, as a way to continue her legacy of kindness and generosity. Lavlett Knight's life was a testament to the power of love, community, and the enduring bonds of family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
