Laurie A. Gustafson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on April 30, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, Laurie was the beloved daughter of John and Shirley Cenkush. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Laurie's journey was filled with deep connections and unwavering support. She shared 47 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Donald Gustafson Jr. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children—Amber, Adam(Renee) and Justice Gustafson. Laurie found immeasurable joy and pride in her role as a nurturing mother and grandmother. Her legacy extends through her cherished grandchildren, Mario(Kamryn) Williams, Mason Williams and Maranda Williams, and her three adored great-grandchildren, Leyana, Joziah, and Zy’Aire. Laurie’s family was the heart of her existence, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, celebrating their achievements and guiding them with her wisdom and grace. Laurie was predeceased by her father, John E. Cenkush, and her precious granddaughter, Ma’Kayla Williams. She is survived by her beloved mother, Shirley Cenkush, and her dear sister, Sheryl Baker, who stood by her side through life’s many chapters. A proud graduate of Washington High School, Laurie carried the values and friendships from her formative years throughout her life. Her kindness, empathy, and indomitable spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Laurie's courage and strength were evident throughout her battle with cancer. She faced each day with a smile and an unwavering determination to make the most of her time with loved ones. Her resilience was a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone around her.
