With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Laurence Oliver Humble, affectionately known as Larry, on May 12, 2026, in the comforting presence of his loved ones. Born on April 17, 1959, in New York, Larry was a beacon of joy, humor, and dedication, whose life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and perseverance.
Larry departed this world after a serious illness, leaving behind a legacy rich with warmth and devotion. He is lovingly remembered by his significant other, June Bowers, whose companionship was a source of strength and happiness throughout his life. He is also survived by his children, James Humble (Kelly), Jonathan Humble, and Jennifer Humble; his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Gracie; his sister, Wanda Walter; and many nieces and nephews who held him dear.
Larry's professional life was marked by his passion for excellence and integrity. In 1988, alongside his esteemed business partner David Williams, now deceased, Larry co-founded Valid Electric. The company, built on a foundation of craftsmanship and dedication, flourished under their leadership. Today, Larry's son proudly carries on the Valid Electric name, ensuring that Larry's values continue to light the way.
When not immersed in his work, Larry pursued a wide array of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid gunsmith and enjoyed the precision and focus of long-range shooting. Larry's adventurous spirit led him to embrace the freedom of motorcycle riding and the camaraderie of traveling in his RV, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. His creativity knew no bounds, as he delighted friends and family with his original jingles, poems, and songs, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
Larry's life will be celebrated on July 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the American Legion Post 226, located at 830 Mayo Road, Edgewater, MD. It is a fitting location for a man who valued community and camaraderie. Family, friends, and all whose lives Larry touched are invited to join in honoring his memory.
In this time of sorrow, the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Georgetown University for their compassion and support during Larry's final days. Their kindness will forever be remembered.
Larry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. Though he has left this earthly plane, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
