It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Reagan Ashcraft, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, on May 23, 2026. Born on April 27, 1962, in Morristown, Tennessee, Laura graced this world with her vibrant spirit, unwavering kindness, and a heart full of love.
Laura was the cherished daughter of Doris Kay Seals Reagan and the late Robert C. Reagan. Her father's memory remained a guiding light throughout her life, and she is now reunited with him in eternal peace. Her husband, Jim Smith, predeceased her, and we take comfort in knowing they are together once more.
Embracing a new chapter in her life, Laura married Michael Ashcraft on June 23, 2017. Their union was a beautiful testament to love, celebrated through shared passions for sports and travel. Their adventures together spanned the United States and a memorable journey through Europe, fueled by their mutual love for history. Despite their lighthearted rivalry between Laura's Tennessee Volunteers and Michael's Kentucky Wildcats, their bond remained unshakable.
Laura was a proud graduate of Morristown East High School and pursued higher education at East Tennessee State University, later transferring to the University of Tennessee. Her journey led her to Kentucky, where she furthered her education at the University of Kentucky, earning an Education Degree and eventually a Master's Degree from Georgetown College. Her dedication to learning was matched only by her passion for teaching, which blossomed during her tenure at Georgetown Middle School as a volleyball coach. Laura's influence extended to West Jessamine Middle School, where she continued to nurture young athletes, instilling in them a love for the sport and life lessons that transcended the court.
Her professional journey was enriched by her love for swimming, a passion she shared generously with the youth in Georgetown and Lexington. Even after retirement, Laura's spirit remained invested in the lives of the students she had coached, watching with pride as they excelled through high school.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Laura was an active member of Catalyst Christian Church in Nicholasville, where she cultivated meaningful friendships within the church community. Her warm smile and welcoming nature made everyone feel like a cherished friend, and she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Laura's love for Florida, a place she held dear since her childhood, was a constant source of joy. Her hobbies included swimming, water sports, gardening, and passionately supporting her favorite sports teams. Her zest for life was contagious, and she enriched the lives of those around her with her genuine kindness and unwavering enthusiasm.
She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her legacy forward: her husband, Michael Ashcraft; her son, Donald Foxworth III and partner Maddie Sawyer; her daughter, Bailey Parmley and husband Chris; her stepdaughter, Kaytlin Ashcraft-Childers and husband Carson; her stepson, Logan Ashcraft; her grandsons, Caleb Parmley and Jonas Childers; her mother, Doris Kay Seals Reagan; her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ashcraft; her sisters, Terri Tuxbury and husband Michael, and Robin Fultz and husband Jeff; her brother, Chad Reagan; and several nieces and nephews. Each of them carries a piece of Laura's heart and spirit.
In honor of Laura, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Hope Lodge of Cleveland, Ohio, an organization that provided comfort and support during her treatment. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the UK Healthcare Markey Cancer Center, the Cleveland Clinic Bone Marrow Transplant Team, and especially to her stepdaughter, Kaytlin Childers, for her unwavering support and care.
As we bid farewell to Laura, we remember her not in sadness, but in the joy and love she brought into our lives. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. Laura Reagan Ashcraft, a beloved friend to many, may you find peace and comfort in the embrace of the angels.
