In Loving Memory of Laura Lynn Buxenstein
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Lynn Buxenstein, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Laura departed this world on March 15, 2026, at the age of 60, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, reflecting the same spirit of generosity and compassion that she so effortlessly shared throughout her life.
Born on May 6, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, Laura was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Buxenstein and the late Paul Buxenstein. From a young age, Laura exhibited a unique curiosity about the world around her, a trait that persisted throughout her life. She was especially fascinated by the human body and the wonders of the medical field, often immersing herself in books and articles that quenched her thirst for knowledge. Her interests extended to the natural world, where she found joy in gardening and learning about different animals.
Laura's life was a testament to the power of love and laughter. Her marriage to Mark Stouten was one of deep affection and companionship, lasting an extraordinary 35 years. Together, they raised three wonderful children—Amanda, Kristi, and Mark Jr.—each of whom carries forward Laura's legacy of kindness, humor, and resilience. Her family was the center of her universe, and she dedicated her life to creating a home filled with warmth and laughter.
Laura's career in the food industry spanned 25 years, but it was her role as a homemaker and mother where she truly found her calling. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where she cultivated an environment of laughter and learning. Known for her sharp wit and sarcasm, Laura had a remarkable ability to lighten any mood, lifting spirits with her humor and infectious smile.
She is survived by her loving mother, Dorothy Buxenstein; her devoted brothers, Russell and Dennis Buxenstein; her adoring husband, Mark Stouten; and her cherished children, Amanda Buxenstein (Ronald Mathers), Kristi Buxenstein (Donald Woolfrey), and Mark Stouten Jr. (Lauren Stouten). Laura was the proud grandmother of two beautiful grandchildren, Cali Stouten and Jacob Mathers, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Laura's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Johns Hopkins Bayview for their exceptional care and kindness, treating Laura with the dignity and respect she deserved. Special thanks are also due to Connelly Funeral Home for their thoughtful support and dedication in these difficult times.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, located at 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. All who knew Laura are welcome to join us in honoring her remarkable life and sharing memories that will keep her spirit alive in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to organizations that promote cancer research and support families affected by this illness, in hopes of continuing Laura's legacy of caring for others.
Laura Lynn Buxenstein will forever be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories we cherish.
