In Loving Memory

Laura J. Scigo
April 18, 1967 — July 20, 2026
Laura J. Scigo, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this world on July 20, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on April 18, 1967, Laura was the cherished daughter of the late Larry and Linda Beightol. Her life was a testament to love and care, values she embodied and shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A proud graduate of Westside High School in 1985, Laura pursued her passion for nurturing young minds by establishing her own daycare, which she lovingly operated for 30 years. Her daycare was not just a place of learning, but a haven of warmth and safety, where each child was treated as part of her extended family. Laura's gift of unconditional love and her ability to connect with children left an indelible mark on countless families in the community.
Laura's heart was fullest when surrounded by her family, who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Scigo, whose partnership and love stood as a beacon of strength and unity. Together, they raised two wonderful children: Stephen Scigo (Kirsten McCormack) and Sarah Scigo, each of whom carries forward Laura's legacy of compassion and kindness. Her sister, Lisa Gray (Rick), and brother, Larry Beightol, along with his wife Buffy and their children Bailey, Brooke, and Ryan, were lifelong companions on her journey.
Her grandchildren, Isabella, Emma, and Harper, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment doting on them. Laura's home was always open to friends and family, where laughter and love were abundant.
Laura's love extended beyond her family; she had a remarkable ability to embrace everyone she met with genuine affection and care. Her warmth and kindness were felt deeply by many, and her absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.
A service to honor Laura's beautiful life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Joan of Arc Church, located at 7501 Vinton St., Omaha, NE. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
