January 24, 1952 — April 23, 2026

Laura Dash, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. She was surrounded by her devoted family during her final moments, a testament to a life rich in love and connection. Born on January 24, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, Laura was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Laura was the cherished daughter of William and Joann Nickels, who predeceased her, leaving behind a legacy of strength and resilience that she carried forward in her own life. A proud graduate of Parma Senior High School, class of 1969, Laura was a woman of intelligence and determination, attributes that she exhibited throughout her career and in her personal pursuits. In 1970, Laura married the love of her life, Fred Dash, on the Fourth of July—a date befitting the fireworks of their enduring love story. The couple moved to Medina, Ohio in 1977, where they built a beautiful home filled with laughter, love, and the joyful chaos of raising five wonderful children: Mathew (Rachel) Dash, Frederick Scott Dash, Melissa (Mark) Crooks, Christine (Tim Davis) Dash, and Sara (Jake) Frost. Laura’s family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Laura’s career was marked by her dedication and work ethic. For over 30 years, she delivered the Medina Gazette newspaper, bringing the community its stories and news. Her caring nature extended to her work at the Medina County Career Center, where she served in the lunchroom, nurturing young minds with kindness and a warm smile. Beyond her professional life, Laura was a devoted volunteer with the 4-H Poultry Committee for over four decades, and she was actively involved with the Dairy Boosters, exemplifying her commitment to her community and its youth. Her love for animals was legendary; Laura often found solace and joy in the company of her many barnyard companions. The Medina County Fair was her favorite time of the year, a celebration she eagerly anticipated and participated in with her family. In quieter moments, Laura found pleasure in reading, watching her favorite television shows, and spending cherished moments with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Fred Dash, her dear sister Cheri (Kenny) Matushevski, her children, grandchildren Amanda (Adam) Segedi, Austin Novak, Will and Wes Crooks, Sutton Frost, and great-grandchildren Adalyn and AJ Segedi. She also leaves behind her nieces Keri Matushevski and Kelly (Nick) McNamara, and great nephew Cameron McNamara and great niece Kenley McNamara, all of whom will miss her deeply. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Laura’s wishes, allowing her family to celebrate her life in an intimate setting. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Laura’s memory, to continue her legacy of love and kindness. Laura Dash’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, a gentle reminder of the joy and warmth she brought into the world. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will endure in the lives of her family and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
