Latisha Stevens
July 1, 1976 — March 6, 2026
Latisha Stevens, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, was called home on March 6, 2026, at the age of 49, after a courageous battle with cancer, compounded by respiratory and heart failure. Born on July 1, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York, Latisha was a vibrant soul whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her.
Latisha was the cherished daughter of Linda Stevens Washington and Carl Washington Jr. She joins in eternal peace her mother Linda, aunts Marvene and Ernestine, grandmother Alice Stevens, grandfather Francis Langley, step-grandfather Thomas Stevens, and cousins Barry and Andre. Her legacy of love and laughter is carried on by her beloved son Devante Stevens, her sisters Eureka, Shameika, and godsister Chrystal, her brothers Kasim and Carl, and a large, loving extended family including her aunts Deborah, Wanda, Coretta (Mom #2), Amy, Greta, Theresa, and Marisol and Sara, and her uncles Timmons Sr., Johnnie, and Jeff. Latisha also leaves behind her nephews Tyriek, Joseph, and Nico, nieces Shakayah, Janae, Kahasia, Crystal, and Kashana, and a host of cousins and close friends Tamika, Julie, Gigi, and Wakeyta, who will always cherish her memory.
Latisha was a proud graduate of Sarah J. Hale High School, class of 1994. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself as a Security Supervisor at Con Edison, where her leadership and unwavering commitment were deeply valued by her colleagues. An active member of Bright Light Baptist Church during her time in Brooklyn, Latisha’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace and resilience through every challenge.
Latisha's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She found joy in the thrill of the casino, the excitement of scratch and matches, and the suspense of playing the lottery. Traveling was another of her cherished activities, along with cooking and baking for her loved ones, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Always impeccably groomed, she adored getting her nails and hair done, and found delight in shopping and watching movies. Latisha’s quick wit and infectious energy made her the life of any party, whether she was leading family and friends in music games, commanding the karaoke stage, or dancing with abandon.
A woman of remarkable honesty and kindness, Latisha was the glue that held her family together. Her open heart and straightforward nature meant she was always there for anyone in need, offering her support and wisdom without reservation.
A celebration of Latisha’s life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM at St. Demetrius Community Center, located at 691 Roosevelt Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, 07008. The Stevens family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for their dedicated care and support during Latisha’s final days.
Though Latisha’s physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her laughter, love, and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
