In loving memory, we honor the life of Lathelle Darius Washington, who departed from this world on August 16, 2026. Born on February 3, 1961, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Lathelle was a beloved husband, father, and friend, whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Lathelle was the cherished son of Kimberly and Darius, and he shared a deep bond with his late mother, Kimberly, and beloved Grandma Bettyanne. He carried forward their legacy with grace and strength, always holding family close to his heart. A proud graduate of Warren Easton High School's class of 1985, Lathelle's life was filled with music, adventure, and family. His early years were marked by joyful Sundays at Glory and Faith Baptist Church, where he played the drums with passion until health challenges required him to step back at the age of 27. Lathelle's talents extended beyond music; he was a man of many skills, playing the trumpet and guitar, and always impressing those around him with his dedication and commitment. Lathelle's love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies—fishing, camping, and planning family trips were among his favorite pastimes. He also had a keen interest in collecting gaming cards and coins, a testament to his appreciation for history and the finer details of life. On March 21, 1998, Lathelle married the love of his life, Nikkol Washington. Together, they built a beautiful family and life filled with love, laughter, and memories that spanned 28 wonderful years. Their union was blessed with four children: their eldest daughter, Shantell Washington-Webber, their son Lathelle Washington Jr., their youngest daughter, Aniyal Washington, and their youngest son, Rashaad Washington. He was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren—Rylan, Brielle, Mini Anna, Brian, and Logan—who will carry forward his legacy of love and strength. Lathelle's life was one of service, not only to his family but also to the community he cherished. He was a man who lived by example, showing kindness, compassion, and unwavering support to those around him. His presence was a constant source of encouragement, and his laughter and warmth will be sorely missed. On August 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM, we will gather to celebrate Lathelle's life at New Hope Baptist Church, located at 1807 Reverend John Raphael Jr Way, New Orleans, LA 70113. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Lathelle's church home for their love and support during this difficult time. They are especially thankful to everyone who has helped to send Lathelle off peacefully. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lathelle's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit of generosity and compassion. Lathelle's journey on earth may have come to an end, but his legacy of love endures forever. His spirit will continue to inspire, uplift, and guide all who were fortunate enough to know him.
