La’Syella Vollis Walmack

La’Syella Vollis Walmack, affectionately known as "Vollis," peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on the morning of September 6, 2026. Her journey began on May 29, 1942, in Macon, Georgia, where she was born to the late Willie Neal Harris, Sr., and Leathy Fountain. Raised with a deep faith, Vollis embarked on her spiritual journey at Greater Bellevue Baptist Church, where she remained a devoted member throughout her life. Vollis' early education was shaped by the Bibb County School System, and her life was marked by a profound love for nurturing others. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Jawara Jefferson, Sr., their union was blessed with three wonderful children. Their love story was one for the ages, a romantic fantasy that inspired all who knew them. A gifted caregiver, Vollis had an innate ability to connect with children, who found comfort and joy in her presence. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her cooking, where meals were not just food but expressions of her love and care. Known for her vibrant spirit, Vollis had a talent for brightening any room with her infectious laughter, dance, and song. She was truly an "atmosphere changer," bringing joy wherever she went. Vollis was predeceased by her brother Stacy Harris and her great-niece, Lasmockie. Her spirit and legacy live on through her loving husband, Jawara Jefferson, Sr.; her daughters, Saphorah (Maurice) Jefferson-Crawford, and Stephanie (LeCurtis) Burton; her son, Jawara (Tremayne) Jefferson, Jr.; and a multitude of grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-father, James Edward “Red” Poole; her brothers, Tracy Harris, Lawrence (Shannon) Harris, Jr., and Kalrese Harris; her sister, Paulette Harris-Jones; and her sisters-in-law, Tiaumaunee Jefferson-Simmons and Kaneka Lockett. Her goddaughter, Akira Williams, along with countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, continue to cherish the love and laughter that Vollis brought into their lives. A celebration of Vollis' life will be held on September 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Greater Bellevue Baptist Church. The family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Vollis' generous spirit. A Special Message from Her Children: "Mommy, we thought of you today, but that’s nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and the days before that too. We think of you in silence, and we can’t stop speaking your name. All we have left are memories of you, and we will cherish them forever." Vollis will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her as a beacon of light, love, and laughter. Her spirit will forever guide and inspire us, as she watches over us from her place in the great cloud of witnesses in glory.
