Larue Mason, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 14, 1939, in Poolsville, Maryland, Larue lived a life filled with grace, love, and dedication to her family and community.
She was the cherished daughter of Mary and Joseph Mason, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life. Larue's journey was marked by her unwavering strength and resilience, particularly evident in her courageous battle with cancer.
Larue is survived by her devoted children, Sharee Mason, Lacher Mason, Lakia Mason, and Tony Mason, who were the light of her life. Her legacy continues through her 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the wisdom and warmth she imparted. Larue is also survived by her beloved siblings, Paul Mason and Shirley Mason, who shared countless cherished memories with her over the years.
In her personal life, Larue found profound happiness with her long-time partner, Oliver Lucas, with whom she will be lovingly reunited. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and companionship.
A celebration of Larue's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Devol Funeral Home, located at 10 E Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. It will be a time to honor her life, share memories, and find comfort in the love she spread to all who knew her.
During the service, her granddaughter Tykia Hurt, her grandson Tyriq Hurt, and Trice Mason will offer a heartfelt poem reading, Their words will serve as a touching tribute to the remarkable life Larue led.
