July 22, 1976 — June 18, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry "Sonny" Phillips, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Sonny left this world on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family at his home, a testament to the profound impact he had on all who knew him. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, on July 22, 1976, Sonny's journey through life was marked by unwavering love, boundless compassion, and a spirit that resonated with everyone he met.
Sonny's legacy is deeply rooted in his family. He was the treasured son of the late Larry Phillips Senior and Darla Phillips, whose love and guidance shaped him into the remarkable man he became. Preceded in death by his sister Gail Phillips, his beloved sister Crystal Phillips, and his sweet angel granddaughter Zariah Rose, Sonny now joins them in eternal rest.
Sonny's life was illuminated by his loving wife, Tori Phillips, with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Their journey was one of destiny and serendipity, having been childhood friends who attended the same church and school before life's paths took them in separate directions. However, fate brought them back together, and they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, culminating in a beautiful family and a marriage celebrated atop a serene lake.
Sonny was the proud father of three children: Kelsey Callaghan, who, along with her husband, brought joy to Sonny's life with their own children; Donovan Phillips; and Jasmine Phillips. He also embraced his stepchildren, Ashley Brinsfield, Yasha Brinsfield, MaKayla Brown, and Jacob Brinsfield, with open arms, extending his fatherly love and guidance to them. His legacy continues through his 18 grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
A graduate of Lima High School in Lima, Oklahoma, Sonny was a man of many talents. Though he spent much of his life as a devoted stay-at-home dad, he also served as a correctional security guard, demonstrating his dedication to providing for and protecting his family. His true passion, however, was music, particularly anything involving rock music. Sonny was an avid drummer, and his love for music was an integral part of his identity, bringing joy to those around him.
Sonny's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who supported him during his final weeks. Your love and presence ensured that Sonny's journey was met with dignity and peace. Though his departure leaves a void in our hearts, his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
In accordance with Sonny's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support and asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
Sonny's journey has not ended; it has merely transformed. He leaves behind a tapestry of love, woven with threads of kindness, laughter, and music. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished.
