With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Larry Mayo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on April 5, 2026, at the age of 73. Larry was born on November 30, 1952, in Haskell, Oklahoma, to the late Audrie Lee Mayo and Lavada Beatrice (Fisher) Mayo, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable man he would become. Larry's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service, both in his professional and personal endeavors. For 40 years, he worked diligently at OG&E, where he served as a lineman supervisor. Larry was not only skilled in his trade, but he was also a mentor and trainer to many, ensuring that those he guided performed their duties with precision and care, always emphasizing safety and the importance of returning home to family each day. His commitment to excellence and his nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Beyond his professional life, Larry was a man of varied interests and passions. He found joy in the game of golf, the camaraderie of bowling, and the thrill of watching sports on TV. However, nothing brought Larry more happiness than the time he spent surrounded by his family. He cherished every moment with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Larry leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Mayo, whose partnership and love were the cornerstone of his life. Larry was a proud father to Pethi Jones of Taft, OK, and Dorlisa Mayo of Lanet, AL. His legacy of love and wisdom extends to his five grandchildren: Corey Harris Jr. (Lakaya) of Tulsa, OK, Jameelah Harris (Sean) of Muskogee, OK, Miracle Mayo of Atlanta, GA, Kahleel Mayo Sr. of Birmingham, AL, and Diondra Clark of Taft, OK. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Malachi Roberts, Marata Roberts, Sean Donald III, Kahleel Mayo Jr., and Jeremiah Richardson, who brought him endless joy and pride. Larry is survived by his sisters, Etoyce Shipp, Yolanda Wiggins, and Beatrice Pierce, all residing in Taft, OK, and his brothers, Jonathan Lee of Muskogee and Chauncey Lee of Atlanta, GA. He joins his beloved parents, his brothers Dwayne Mayo and Walton Mayo, his sister Edna Jones, and his son-in-law Jody Jones Jr. in eternal rest. A service to honor and celebrate Larry's life will be held on April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Boulevard Christian Church, located at 1700 W Shawnee St. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share stories of joy, laughter, and love that Larry brought into the world. Larry Mayo's life was a gift to all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
