It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Manning Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Larry departed this life on October 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born on August 26, 1960, in Monroe, Louisiana, Larry was the cherished son of Brooksie Fields and John Fields, who preceded him in death. Raised in a close-knit family, Larry learned from an early age the values of compassion and community, values that guided him throughout his life.
Larry was a proud graduate of Farmerville High School, Class of 1978. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the military in 1980 and serving honorably until 1985. His time in the service was marked by dedication and bravery, qualities that he carried into all facets of his life.
On August 26, 2016, Larry married his soulmate, Lynn Manning, sharing eight wonderful years together before her passing in 2024. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, characterized by mutual respect and unwavering support.
Larry was a father to Larry Manning Jr. and a guiding light to his daughters, Sharhonda Broadway and Ashley Whaley. He was the proud grandfather of six, including grandsons Damenion Robinson Jr, Daejon Robinson, Da’Von Robinson, and granddaughters Antionique Broadway, Asharie Broadway, and Jasmine Broadway. Though he had no great-grandchildren, his legacy lives on through the family he cherished deeply.
Larry is survived by his sisters Linda Lloyd and Mary Sawyer, and his brother Robert Lloyd. He was a loving uncle to a host of nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many.
Known for his realism, infectious smile, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days, Larry had a unique ability to make everyone feel at home. He loved singing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends, creating bonds that will endure beyond his passing. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Larry touched the lives of everyone he met with kindness and generosity.
A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Blooming Grove Baptist Church, located at 702 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Farmerville, LA 71241. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor a life well-lived and a soul much loved.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a great comfort, and we thank God for each of you, praying that He blesses you abundantly.
